Full Season Landscaping Package
Beautiful Blooms offers a Full Season Landscaping Package that will take care of all your property’s needs in every season.
Here’s what we include:
Inspection
- A professional horticulturist will inspect your property and take note of any landscape issues and bring them to your attention.
Cleanup
- We will remove debris (trash, leaves, sticks) from all lawn and landscaped areas. We will also cut back any perennials that were left through winter.
Pruning Inspection and Light Pruning
- To assess winter damage, we will inspect all shrubs and small ornamental trees (under 12 feet tall). If only minor pruning is necessary (less than 5 cuts per shrub/tree) we will prune appropriately. If more significant pruning is required, we will inform you of what we found and propose the correct action under a separate contract.
- If you have roses in your landscape, we will prune them to remove all dead stems and partially dead stems. You may notice a significant reduction in the size of your roses.
Weed Control
- No weeding is included in spring cleanup activities. If you would like us to weed your planting beds, please advise us in advance so we can plan and adjust your invoice.
Pre-Emergent Herbicide
- We will apply pre-emergent weed control to your landscape beds to help suppress weed growth during the growing season.
Over the course of the season
- We will make a series of visits to your property. The duration of the visits may vary from one to another because there is more work to do at certain times of the season and less at others. Visits will be about every two weeks. We may slightly adjust the schedule as we deem necessary to accommodate for current conditions (e.g. prolonged drought, intense disease/insect pressure, etc.).
During every landscape management visit
- We will inspect landscape plants for signs/symptoms of disease/insect damage. If we find a problem, we will bring it to your attention.
- Disease/insect outbreak management is not included as part of your routine service as it is largely unpredictable. If the problem is simple to remedy by physical removal (pruning) we will do that, or we may leave it if we feel the damage will be minimal or that the pest problem will be short-lived due to changing environmental conditions. We will always take note of landscape problems that we come across and bring them to your attention by leaving/sending a service report after each visit.
Weeding and Trash Pick-Up
- We will weed all landscaped areas on your property. We control weeds by hand and minimal use of herbicide. Our goal is to remove medium and large weeds and not worry too much about tiny and small weeds. Being tolerant of a few weeds in your landscape beds allows you to avoid excess exposure to toxic, poisonous chemicals.
Perennial/Annual Detailing
- We may remove spent blossoms and cut back perennials to promote new plant growth and a possible second bloom period. By doing this, your landscape will remain fresh-looking through the entire season and limit self-seeding of plants. Some flowers, when dried, look attractive later in the season and these will be left to stand.
Flowering Shrub Detailing
- We may NOT remove spent blossoms from flowering shrubs. After the flower fades, there will often be a seed capsule, berry, or other fruit structure that forms and this offers additional ornamental value to your landscape in different seasons, including winter. Removal of flowers from a shrub does not keep it from flowering prolifically. We will still snip unsightly or wayward growth to keep your shrubs looking nice, just not total spent blossom removal. If you deem it important and necessary for us to spend time removing spent blossoms from your shrubs, please let us know so we can plan appropriately and discuss the investment.
Trim & Shape Shrubbery, Including Hedges
- We will trim and shape all shrubbery on your property during the summer, as is horticulturally appropriate. When appropriate, we will do this work using a hedge trimmer and pick up debris. Not every shrub can tolerate being or should be sheared, therefore we will not shear every shrub.
Proper Pruning of Shrubs
- For the remaining shrubs that should not be sheared, we will prune and shape them as necessary by hand. This in-season pruning is lighter. Dormant pruning is entirely different and addresses framework/structure/internal pruning needs. Dormant or corrective pruning is not part of routine maintenance.
Natural Deer and Rabbit Repellent
- If we detect a problem with deer and rabbits eating your plants, we will apply a natural repellent to the susceptible plants, as necessary.
Pest Control
- When we detect a problem with diseases or insects, we may treat, using integrated pest management systems. Pest control is included for Viburnums, Boxwood, and Roses. Full spectrum ornamental plant health care is not included as part of Routine Maintenance but is available as an optional elevated service.
Natural Area Management
- If you have a natural area on your property, we will trim back the trees/brush/grass as necessary, to keep the natural area from encroaching on your lawn/landscape space. We generally do this once or twice per year.
Perennial division and flower bed re-tooling is NOT included
- This is a separate service and one that is necessary from time to time to respond to the changes/growth of plants in a landscape. This is only necessary every 3-10 years and varies depending on plant varieties and personal tastes.
We will cut down all perennials that do not offer winter interest.
We will collect leaf debris from the landscape beds and lawn area.
We will dispose of debris off-site.
- However, if you have a wooded or marsh area on your property, we will blow leaves into those areas and you will save some significant expense on labor. We will not leave piles—we will spread them out. Please, let us know if that is NOT acceptable to do. If your community offers curbside collection, we may utilize that service.
Fall Scheduling
- In the fall, we approach our schedule differently than at other times of the year. If you have very few trees, we may plan a single visit. If you have multiple/many trees, we will plan more than one visit. The number of visits is determined by weather conditions, site needs, and schedule variability. If we are planning multiple visits, the first will be in early fall, and we will do most of the required perennial cut down at that time. We may also clear whatever leaves have already fallen, though not taking the time to get into the corners, window wells, or from under shrubs. Any additional service calls will be for a more thorough leaf clearing. The number of visits listed is merely a scheduling guide, and we may adjust as we see fit. We schedule the leaf clearing visits according to current and forecasted weather conditions. A rotating/fluid schedule allows us to reach our goal of providing service to you and about one hundred other properties. This schedule ensures that we are not caught with enormous amounts of leaves on any one single property. At worst—there may be some leaves left that can be collected in the spring as part of our spring cleanup services.
NOTE: Unknown Fall Weather!
- We will do the best job possible given the current and forecasted weather conditions. Unfortunately, this may mean that after our final visit for the season (and through the winter), leaves from neighboring properties or trees still holding leaves may accumulate on your lawn. This is okay and should not cause undue harm. If you arrange for us to return in spring, we will clear this and other debris as part of our spring cleanup service. Schedule changes / cancellations due to weather conditions does not breach the terms of this contract.
- We make fall visits according to the current and forecasted weather conditions—depending on the characteristics of your property and the weather conditions we may complete your leaf cleanup in one or many visits. Also, because we have not figured out how to control the weather, there is a possibility that completion of this work is simply impossible because of late leaf drop, high winds, and/or an early snow or freezing rain. If this should happen, we will charge you for all labor hours spent working at your property up to that point. Typically, we have at least made one visit to your property for the purpose of clearing leaves by the time the weather turns, and if there was no choice other than to leave the remaining uncollected leaves on the lawn over the winter, there would be little to no negative impact. We will work with you to plan for an early spring cleanup the following year, though spring cleanup is not included in this contract.
Not all shrubs or small trees will be pruned each winter season.
- We will prune only what needs to be pruned in order to maintain an even appearance from year to year, avoid drastic cutback, and to manage our time. If something is due to be corrected (drastic cut back) we will bring this to your attention ahead of time, so you are prepared.
Frequency
- Annually, in the dormant season. Your shrubs and small trees need pruning attention from time to time. Through normal growth, many crossing and rubbing branches within the structure of your shrubs or small trees can occur. There may also be some diseased or broken branches. We recommend an annual dormant inspection, and then taking appropriate action to correct these issues so that you may enjoy the investment you have made in your landscape for many more years to come.
What To Expect
- Pruning is different from trimming.Depending on the type of shrub or ornamental tree, and the condition it is in, we may remove a single branch, or a significant amount of outer growth and inner structural branches. Rejuvenation or complete re-flushing out of foliage will take time, sometimes an entire year depending on the extent of pruning done, plant species, and the time of year.
When Work Is Finished
- You may notice a significant change in the appearance of your plants. Possibly, you may even think that we harmed them because of the extent of pruning that we performed. We assure you, pruning alone will not harm healthy plants. However, if your plants are in distress prior to us pruning them, it is possible that they will not thrive, and may even die, due to the inherent stress caused from corrective pruning. We regret that this happens from time to time and are not responsible for replacement, removal, or other perceived financial loss, and you are responsible for payment in full for services provided.
